Blood, teeth, and saliva spray across the sleeve of Josh. The hound is dedicated on delivering pain. Fear grips Josh and his hands glow and flash. Violent frenzy blinds the dog. Josh focuses his right hand toward the dogs face and a great piercing flame erupts from his fingers. The blaze scorches the dog’s muzzle and eyes. As the dog releases his arm, vengeance fills the imagination of Josh. He points both hands at the dog and releases his fury. Torture rides the dog’s coat as the fire boils the skin. All the hound can do is lie down and scream. A smile marks the face of Josh as he continues with no mercy. Quickly the man who tried to get the attention of Josh turns the corner to see flames leaping from the young man hands.
The dog owner screams! “Stop that! Stop it now! You are killing my dog!”
Whipped up with excitement Josh looses his control. “So! It bit me and now I am biting back!”

With fingers stretch forward and pointing at a post in the backyard. Josh flicked his hands with a slight jerk. Blue flames roll over each other, building larger until blasting red as they touch the wooden post. The heat of the fire was pure energy. Only ashes from the post could be seen flying in the air. As his hands dropped to his sides and his focus was broken, Josh seemed to extinguish the flames in an instant. His father waltzed over to the post in complete astonishment. A long sniff of the air and with his tongue protruding from his mouth, he was seeking proof of a device or trick. Nothing but the post granted him anything. The father closely examined the post; it looked as if it entered a blast furnace. The scorch marks were extremely deep. He poked at the embers inside the post. Suddenly the post disintegrated. A puzzled grimace danced upon the face of Josh's dad.
His father ponders out loud? “Remarkable! No sign of any propellant! What could do this?”
Josh educates. “Raw energy. I think that I control water and separate it's electron bonds, but that is my scientific opinion. Or a feeling.”

Every morning was the same for Alice, she woke herself, attended the morning rituals; like bathroom hygienic and meal preparation. Alice's mother was almost useless in these activities. One day when Alice was but a youngster, her mother decided to cook breakfast and almost burnt the whole house down around them. Luckily their bags were already packed in the automobile and Alice was playing in the backyard. She came out of the house screaming. Neighbors tried to extinguish the fire, but Alice's mom insisted it was a grease fire and those types of fires never go out. So from then on Alice and her father cooked all the meals and cleaned the house while her mother entertained them both with dancing and song.
A weird and eerie cloud descended on the house one morning when a knock came at the front door. The house was so new to Alice. Her parents were silent. Alice moved to their new bedroom. She cracked the door open slightly and saw them unpacking valuables from small black bags. As if Alice saw nothing, she quietly closed the door.

Escaping into the hallway, Alice quickly races toward her parent's bedroom. Twists to the doorknob seem to feel fruitless. A click releases the lock from inside and a gap pops through the crack of the opening door. Whispers ripple behind the door. As if a Broadway performance, a wide swing from the door and a sashay of her mother toward the front of the home. Layers of silk and lace flutter by Alice with her mother's hair fluffed with perfume. She prances as if to lure and empress. Alice's mother approaches the front door as an alluring model. This flirtatious behavior is familiar to Alice. Her giggles and demeanor makes Alice sick to her stomach. When her mother wants something from her Alice’s father, then she openly runs the same charade.
As the conversation echoes through the house, Alice looses interest and continues to ready herself for school. Packing her lunch and finishing breakfast for the family, she hears the sweet goodbyes from her mother. The door closes and her mom greets Alice improperly.

He uses the flashlight to reveal what seems to be a marvelous recreation of a religious ceremony chamber with Mayan men painting the walls. Confusion freezes the security team while the professor tries to communicate with the Mayan priests. His ancient Mesoamerican is amazingly fluid and the priests answer back. It seems this must have happened before since the strangers do not shock the priests. One priest rapidly places jade and bone necklaces on the females in the group. The librarian feels welcome to discuss the topic. “You might already know this but Judaism almost perished under the Seleucid Empire.”
Chris looks in her face and replies. “Really. So the Seleucids tried to kill off all the Jews? I thought they were a noble empire after reading that they dismissed slavery and allowed any culture into their land.”
The librarian giggles and educates. “No, no, no. Because of the end of slavery in the kingdom and the good treatment of the Jews was the reason that almost ended the Jewish religion. You see during that time almost every empire used slaves. Many slaves were under a fixed time and voluntarily entered slavery. That type of slavery was called indentured servitude. However other city states like Sparta had Helots and these men were forced into slavery forever and could never be free until death.”
Chris inquires. “Why did the Judaism almost perish under their reign?”
Moving some pages in the old book, the librarian reveals some lost truth. “The treatment of people with capital or money was the way of the Seleucid Empire operated. People of all walks of life were treated the same, regardless of religion similar to Babylon. So many Jews converted to Hellenistic type of religion to show their faith in Seleucid rule. Remember during this time there wasn't any concept of Atheism.”

He remembers the promise to walk home from school with Shyla so Taiko waits for her at the rear entrance of the high school. A pebble near the rear gate captures his attention as boredom bubbles in his veins. The rock is a strange blue shiny color and the sunlight dances upon its hue. Sounds chirp from the rock like an animal call. Taiko drowns in the calling of the rock and he stumbles over to it. He picks up the small pebble and a flash of blue tint changes his surroundings. One day a scorpion marches to the river and introduces herself to a frog. She asks the frog for passage across the river but the frog testifies that scorpions are dangerous. The scorpion showed the frog that she can change color therefore scorpions can change from dangerous to peaceful.”
Gudrun interrupts! “You can change color!”
Cheyenne releases her arm and looks directly in Gudrun's face. “Can I finish my story? Where was I, oh yes? The frog agreed to help the scorpion. So the frog allowed the scorpion on his back and they began to cross the river. Halfway across the river the scorpion noticed a piece of drift wood so she stung the frog. The frog cries out and states that they will both drown. Then the scorpion leaped onto the drift wood then laughed. She confesses that she was hungry and a dead frog floats.”

Shasta says with tears in her eyes. “I am in my father's room.”
With excitement on his breath the man states. “Shasta, under the right lamp desk is a gun. Get it now. Once you have the gun, release the safety and pull the top slide backward. The gun will be ready. Now listen to me very carefully! Go downstairs, find the stranger then shoot him four times. After he falls, run outside and fire the gun into the air. Stand in the middle of the street while pointing the gun toward the house. Alright, tell me what I told you!”
Sounds of sobbing is witnessed by the man on the phone by the young woman. He yells at Shasta over the phone to repeat his instructions. Shasta repeats his plans but when she tries to speak about shooting the stranger her voice breaks with emotional pain. Again the voice on the phone demands the young female repeat his instructions. Seconds later the woman finally spits out the route as her hands shake. One foot before the other, Shasta moves to the door. Peeping through the cracked door, her eyes seek moving shadows in order to prep her escape. The young woman’s hand wets the gun in sweat as anxiety takes hold. Banging noises can be heard on the east side of the house and Shasta believes this is a good time to bolt.

This grants Naqad enough time to focus on Lexis as a target. A few bulldogs try to block Naqad from Lexis but the Scorpio Collector savages the young men. Blood sprays from the mouth of a bulldog member onto Tony by Naqad's vicious attacks.
Lexis screams with horror and Tony mumbles telepathically. “I agree with you. We need to flee. Let's draw them away from our friends. I only have enough life force to run.”
Lexis replies telepathically. “I want to try something new.”

Excerpt from Book 15:
Pain invades the professor's mind when the kinetic weapon's micro splinters move into his shoulder. This reminds him of the time he met a middle aged military professional in a restaurant. The aura of the military man is waning. Death will come soon to the powerful individual. Another side affect of being a Ophiuchus Collector of Zodiac. Death is a visual that the professor refuses to live around so he pays his bill then prepares to leave the restaurant until a small child enters. The little red haired girl races through and hops into soldier's lap. Peering over his shoulder, the professor notes the little girl's aura has power. Another Collector of Zodiac graces Professor Wilham's position in just a few weeks. Yellow hues blasts from the little girl then it twists around her dying father. Questions bounce as the professor feels compelled to investigate.
Patience is extremely easy for a man that can't remember his age. Seconds feel like drops of rain to the man whom has survived hundreds of waterfalls. Years conduct an interpretation that grants the professor enough information to know where the military professional is stationed. Listening to names called out by the waitress states beyond the obvious of the identity of the sick man. The energetic young girl seems to possess the ability of a Collector of Zodiac therefore the professor seeks a way to get closer to the family. He positions himself to touch the sick military man. This gives him a physical thermometer of the man's condition. By drinking some of the man's life force reveals his illness.
Excerpt from Book 15:
Minutes spin by as the interrogator snarls at the professor. This is not the first time Professor Wilham has been interrogated. A flashback triggers in the ancient man's memories with a sunrise bleaching the sky. Brass swords and bronze shields litter the landscape before him. Words spill before the ancient man in a tongue he cannot translate. Peering down to his own clothing, the professor remembers his bronze age armor when he was hired as a mercenary. The cloth around his arm and leg signified Celtiberian of Hispania. The horde is merciless and they pummel him with revenge in their hearts. Professor Wilham was one man but fought like 100 before his adversary. The same gaze in the modern man's face was exactly the same as the blood soaked North Africans. A scheme of escape pops into the mind of the ancient man.

Excerpt from Book 16:
Sounds of two men beating their chests with words as Adam leads the young collectors away. Taiko is awestruck over the size of Thorhelm. He is a mountain of a man and can barely fit down the hallway. Seconds before the young collectors get to safety, Thane charges. With quick low kicks, Professor Wilham tries to break the structure of the large man. Wild powerful swings emit from Thorhelm but Thane dodges with ease. Frustration mounts for both fighters. Professor Wilham realizes that Thorhelm is well conditioned for pain, therefore the professor forms a new strategy. The human body is shaped with many natural weaknesses. Respiration must be paced in order to conserve oxygen in the blood, but the increase in heat resists the absorption. By making the large man move, his muscles heat up and oxygen will decrease proportionally. A second major defect in mammals is that certain parts of the structure cannot be defended. Using this information, the professor continues to assault certain body parts. Strikes to Thorhelm's knees, hip, kidneys, elbows, ankles, and bladder begin to wear down the massive man. Pain ripples from Thorhelm combined with frustration forces him toward a wild rage. He smashes the walls, furniture, and floor but Thane is a master of hand to hand combat. After a few minutes, Thorhelm releases his Capricorn powers by controlling the air in the hallway. A minor vortex pulls Thane into Thorhelm's hands.
Thorhelm shouts! “I have you now little man!”
Excerpt from Book 16:
Time is irrelevant for the small group of people. Memories and knowledge is shared. Everyone contributes with their special experiences. This pool of expertise brings forth a plan to escape. The exact plans are not revealed in a clear picture but feelings of confidence floods their minds. Tugs of small hands pull the group back to reality. Sung is trying to reawaken the professor. As the group snaps back to awareness, ropes are slapping the windows. Security forces prepare to assault through the glass. Samantha gestures for Taiko to help tether the medical privacy shroud across the seven windows. Thane cracks the door in order to listen for movement in the halls. A few flash bang grenades are both shot through the windows and down the halls. This announces a massive insertion of soldiers to bear down on the small room on the third floor. Microseconds after the bright flash in the room from the windows, fourteen men bash through the glass. Surprise is doubled crossed as Adam absorbs the bright light while Samantha executes her trip wire. By wearing special goggles, the security troops are protected from the bright flash but they are clothes lined by Samantha's trap. All of these soldiers are knocked to the ground while the young collectors disarm these men. Juan crushes their firearms near him. Taiko steals metal weapons using his Aries zodiac. Kinetic energy is converted by Sung as she assaults the fallen soldiers. It is a perfect concert to ambush the surprise.

Collectors of Zodiac, Invisible Empire: Book 17 "Resistance" is part of a short story series that moves characters from the original books into the future. Professor Thane Wilham has escaped from a locked down military hospital with help. Fellow Collectors of Zodiac provided Thane some assistance and they discovered a young Taurus that was held captive. Fleeing into a criminal controlled area of the city, Thane and Sung meet a resistance group called the Knights of Protest. Combining forces they go on the offensive by aiding homeless people, firefighters, police, and invading organized crime areas. However the Invisible Empire has plans and they control the city officials, military, and media. Can this new resistance alliance last? Are the professor and his Collectors of Zodiac over their heads? Merging different factions is difficult but this time is seems impossible.
Life is a struggle to survive for most living things. Grass grows between the concrete sidewalks as the duo accepts the local gang's invitation. Globalism has robbed the local people of their wealth. This is apparent with the infrastructure being in complete disarray. Many neighborhoods look like a war zone in a third world country. Distrust is painted on the faces of most people in the street as many willfully hide their faces from strangers and all hide from the open cameras. Police patrol the main streets with armored vehicles that resemble military style equipment. Thane shadows these automobiles and he uses the side streets and alley ways to avoid them. Professor Wilham and Sung walk the side streets of the city until they reach a six story brick building on the right. A few physically fit people dressed aggressively hangout in front of the structure. |
Blood and pain is an old friend to Beowulf, but not Alice. She can feel the ripping flesh as Kali attacks. Losing ground was expected by the ancient man during the assault so he uses the winning craze against Kali. Blocking multiple attacks is more about slowing a good technique than being skilled. Small cuts and abrasions riddle Beowulf's body. The Libra collector can now see the ancient man's Ophiuchus healing the physical. A very long thin snake like ghost circles his aura. It burrows around the deep wounds like a sand snake camouflages in the desert. Kali attempts to drive through the man's skull using a downward sword strike but Alice warns Beowulf's subconscious. In order to evade the punishing strike, he allows a blade to slice into his ribs.
In an emergency, Alice screams in pain! “Father! Help us!” Hot air gasps from Alice in the physical world as she feels the collapse of Beowulf's lung. Intense pain crashes the mind of the Libra zodiac collector and her life force is expelled. Gravity overwhelms the exhausted young collector and she falls back to earth. Darkness engulfs the child of light while Alice plummets. Noticing that Alice is falling to her death, Sung scrambles to her feet. Running the faster than she has ever ran before, Sung starts to climb the walls. A tornado forms in the center where Beowulf kneels as Sung reaches for Alice. Rising wind pushes upward; this slows the decent of the unconscious Libra collector. The vortex becomes unstable once Sung leaps to save Alice as the resistance fighters hold on for dear life. Strong winds throw everything that isn't bolted down, except the center of the storm. |

Excerpt:
Dread is fear combined with depression where hope is lost. Mental bleed back has leaked into the consciousness of Alice as Beowulf confronts the bog warrior statue known as Kali. Weapons grow from the ten hands of Kali before the god like being attacks. The ancient man holds his ground but lethal wounds drown the Virgo collector's willpower. She falls into the arms of Beowulf during the fight after Sung (a Taurus collector) tried to catch Alice. The ancient man has ordered Sung to surrender or he will twist the head off Alice. Visualizing that their allies are in trouble, a few Knights of Protest rally to save them. They draw down their firearms at the ancient man while yelling for him to release Alice.
Beowulf mocks. “Shoot! You will only kill her! Fools! I am Beowulf and for thousands of years I have walked this earth! You can't kill me!”

Fire puffs from the aura of Josh has water in the hanging air begins to separate into hydrogen and oxygen. An Aquarius collector can rip the bonds of molecules; in turn releasing the energy that created those bonds. When enough emotional direction and lifeforce is expelled, an Aquarius zodiac can fuse elements and molecules together. Acknowledging the danger, the Gemini twins link back together to control the massive energy extruding from Josh while Taiko and Tawny force everybody outside the training area. As Josh quickly spirals out of control, Tony attempts to contain the fire energy from igniting the flammable materials by using his chaos Gemini zodiac powers. Entropy expands as particles energize in a specific volume. Chaos allows these energized particles to randomly move heat away to objects with a higher combustion point. In the same relation, Tony could cause almost any material to explode. During this time Lexis warns that Josh could burn down the entire complex using her Gemini zodiac of order. She came read the lifeforce quantity and quality. With only seconds to decide, Tony plans to redirect the heat back to the source. Lexis begs that this might kill the Aquarius collector since there is little water in the area to aid him.
The soaring heat begins to suck the breathable oxygen from the room, Tony mentally instructs Lexis. “If we don't stop him then we all may perish!”
